CYCLE WHAT?
Cycle Clicks is another brain fart of mine.
I love all kinds bicycles and I also do appreciate a nice photo. Now imagine both worlds in one YouTube channel!
A community where we share our bikes in a most photogenic way - and all of this would be kinda boring without a little competition.
Sorry, you have to imagine there are some other pictures than these placeholder images here.
How it works
To participate, you should visit the Submit page and submit your entry. I call them Clicks, for marketing sake.
What’s a Click?
A Click is a submission in the contest. Browse through the accordion on the right to see each section of a Click.
-
Your name will be displayed while your Click is being showcased in the video.
Although you need to provide your email, it will not be published in the video.
I will very likely contact you once I can estimate when your Click will appear in a video.
-
The main part of your submission. This picture should contain all the blood, sweat and tears.
Make sure the bike is well presented, straight up from the side, valves aligned, handlebar straight, crank horizontal and gears in big chainring small cog.
-
Here you have the chance to provide additional pictures. Good thing, this section has no strict rules besides “please don’t gross me out”. Be creative!
Your favourite component on the bike?
Coffee stop photos?
Recent mods you made? -
Of course, you should also get something in return when you submit a Click.
Sorry, I’m broke, too. So best I can do is mentioning a social media account of your choice while showcasing your Click.
This may change in the future, but for now this is all you get.
Five Categories
Upon submission, your Click will first be categorised into one of the following Categories:
All types of road bikes:
Aero, climbing,
endurance, …
All types of gravel bikes:
Race, endurance, bikepacking, …
Bikes made for the trail:
Hardtails, CX, …
Bikes made for going down hill:
Downhill (duuh), enduro, …
Bikes made for the city:
Folding bikes, commuters, cargo, …
Five Traits
Your Click will be rated by these Traits:
Image Quality
I do not expect everyone to bring their DSLR out when riding, but please make sure the image has a decent quality.
Wipe the sweat off your phone, make sure it’s sharp, not over- or underexposed and do not overdo post-processing.
Composition
Ratings in this Trait will focus on where the bike is located in the picture frame. Not too close to the edge, but not too far - and hopefully in the middle.
No jaunty angles please!
Presentation
Did you set up your bike correctly?
Valves aligned, pedals straight, biggie-smalls?
Check the background for any distractions (although distractingly beautiful backgrounds are allowed).
Style
Now we get to the fun stuff. Colour-matched components, customisations and all the other goodies!
Creativity
This Trait allows you to get additional points.
Cool shot in the Auxilaries? Extra star!
Nice hack you added to your bike? Extra star!
Cool dog? Extra star!
(This is a pet friendly channel)
Each Trait will give you a rating from 0 to 5 stars.
At the end, all ratings will be summed up, resulting in a possible maximum score of 25 stars.
